About Volunteering?
People volunteer for many different reasons. Some do it to meet new people, make a difference, to use their skills or to learn new skills. Volunteers reflect our community members' diverse interests, ages and professions. Parents, business people, students and retired citizens are among those providing valuable contributions of their time and talents.
Volunteering provides opportunities to develop new skills and connect to community or neighbourhood. Volunteering can give you hands on experience that will make a positive difference.
Many volunteers have been involved for years, while others do so for short periods of time. Most people volunteer as individuals but groups can also become involved.
Six Easy Steps to Volunteering
1. Phone FNQ Volunteers to make an appointment for an interview. Interviews can be in person at our office OR by phone if outside the local area
2. At the interview, our Referral Officer will discuss your interests, skills and motivation. These are then matched with suitable volunteer positions available
3. The Referral Officer then contacts the member organisation to set up a mutually convenient appointment to discuss the details of the volunteer position
4. The volunteer is given a copy of the position description and a letter of introduction to be taken to the interview with the organisation
5. If the volunteer is accepted for the position, the volunteer and the coordinator then decide on rostered days/hours to commence their volunteering
6. Once the volunteer has commenced volunteering FNQ Volunteers will follow up with the organisation and the volunteer on a regular basis.
If you have any questions regarding volunteering or any volunteer position you have been referred to, please contact us at FNQ Volunteers Inc. and we will be happy to assist.
