National Volunteer Week International Volunteers Day 5th December 2008
International Volunteer Day (IVD) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. IVD is now celebrated world wide with thousands of volunteers involved in a range of IVD initiatives including clean-up campaigns, conferences, exhibitions, morning teas and many other activities all aimed to highlight the role of volunteers in their communities.

This year FNQ Volunteers Inc. invites volunteers and families to celebrate 2008 International Volunteers Day and the Volunteer of the Year Awards at a family friendly event on Friday 5th December at Sugarworld Parklands, Edmonton.
Nominations for Volunteer of the Year are invited from community organisations and groups throughout the Far North Queensland region.
If you know someone who volunteers their time in the community or neighbourhood helping families and children you can nominate them by completing a Nomination Form and forward to FNQ Volunteers Inc.at info@fnqvolunteers.org or fax to 4041 7500 by Friday 28th November.
